Covid-19 Testing at Newcastle Airport

Covid-19 testing:

If you are travelling abroad, some countries now require a negative Covid-19 swab test and ‘Fit To Fly’ certificate to prove that you do not have the virus prior to travelling. We provide ‘General PCR Testing’ for non-travel reasons.

Rapid Antigen Testing (this currently only applies to the Netherlands) :

As well as a PCR Fit to Fly test, people travelling to the Netherlands from the UK or Ireland, must provide proof that they have tested negative for Coronavirus following a rapid test three hours before their flight departure time.

To allow for a Rapid Antigen appointment, travellers should add at least one hour onto their travelling time.

Rapid Antigen appointments are only available to people who have a booked flight to the Netherlands. Please remember to bring your boarding pass. 

Travellers going to the Netherlands must provide a signed negative test declaration certificate showing:

  • A negative result from a Rapid Antigen test
  • A negative result from a PCR test

A negative test result is not a substitute for self-quarantine. People with a negative test result should still self-quarantine for 10 days on arrival in the Netherlands.

Test to Release:

We now provide the new ‘Test to Release’ scheme for people who want to exit self-isolation on arrival in England, after 5 days.

NPH Group is a Government approved provider of this service.

This scheme allows passengers arriving into the UK from a destination that does not have a Travel Corridor to take a test after 5 days, and if negative, be released from the 10 day quarantine restriction.

Please do not book a ‘Fit To Fly’ as a ‘Test To Release’ as this cannot be accepted by the authorities.

You can pre-book your ‘Fit To Fly’, ‘Rapid Antigen’ or ‘Test to Release’ below, but first there are a few more things you might like to know:

  • The testing centre for PCR Fit to Fly, General PCR, and Test to Release is in the Premium Meet and Greet facility at Newcastle International Airport
  • For Rapid Antigen testing, the facility is located in the main Airport terminal building
  • You must bring your passport or photo ID to your appointment
  • For PCR Fit to Fly and PCR Test to Release, parking is free. If parking is required for Rapid Antigen testing you must use one of the Airport’s drop off car parks (Express/Short Stay 1) where parking is charged by stay length.
  • Friendly airport staff on hand to help
  • PCR test costs £99 per person and results are given within 48 hours
  • Rapid Antigen test costs £60 per person and results will be emailed to you within 1 hour of your appointment time
  • Test to Release test costs £109 per person and results are given within 48 hours
  • Qualified clinicians carry out the test
  • Tests are analysed in a Newcastle based laboratory (PCR only)
  • £1.00 donated to St Oswald’s Hospice for every test sold

Important key information about booking and attending your Covid-19 test

What do I do if my booking does not process correctly?

  • If you encounter a problem when processing your payment, please do not attempt to rebook your appointment even if prompted to ‘try again’, as you may be charged again.
  • Should this happen please email testing@nph-group.co.uk, and we will check your booking and if necessary complete it for you.
  • This will avoid you having to be charged a £4 cancellation fee for each appointment booked, to recover our cost of a booking error(s).
  • We can only refund a PCR Fit to Fly and Rapid Antigen appointment within 48hrs of your appointment date and time if your flight is cancelled – to obtain a refund you must send proof of cancellation from your airline or tour operator to testing@nph-group.co.uk.
  • We can only refund a test with more than 48hrs notice prior to the date and time of your booked appointment.

What do I do if I make a booking but need to change the appointment date and time?

  • Please email testing@nph-group.co.uk and we will rebook the appointment for you, which will avoid you having to pay a cancellation fee.
  • Email support service is available 7 days a week between 08.00-17.00
  • We can only rebook appointments between the hours of 08.30 and 17.00 Mon -Fri and 08.00 and 12.00 Sat. This will be confirmed by email.


What happens if I need to cancel my COVID-19 appointment due to a change, or because of my personal circumstances, or because my flight has been cancelled?

  • If you need to cancel your appointment due to any circumstances there will be a £4 cancellation fee, which must be settled via an email link that will be sent to you.
  • Once paid and if entitled, a refund will be processed by our cancellation team.
  • You will not be able to obtain a refund within 48hrs of your booked appointment date and time unless your flight has been cancelled.
  • We can only process refunds for cancelled flights if you can provide evidence from your carrier or holiday company by email to testing@nph-group.co.uk
  • You can rebook or cancel your appointment online by following the link in your booking confirmation email. 


Entering your payment details

  • Please ensure that you enter your postcode when prompted again when entering your payment card details.
  • This will appear at the end of the line once you have entered your card number and CVV security number.


Can I book multiple appointments under one name?

  • Appointments must be booked separately.
  • All appointment booking details must be for the individual attending the appointment.
  • You must make sure that you book and pay for one appointment at a time.
  • The same payment details can be used for each individual purchase.

When the booking screen opens simply select a date and time below and follow the instructions:

1. Click on the button below to book your test.

2. Please take special care when booking your test date and time*
* Please check with your airline and final destination on the timing of your Covid-19 test result 

3. Remember to arrive for your test with your booking confirmation and passport.

4. Please avoid eating for an hour or two prior to testing and bring a bottle of water in case you would like a drink after your swab.

5. Your test is carried out by a trained clinician and results sent via email within 48 hours (or 1 hour of your appointment time for Antigen tests).

Where do I go?

For Fit to Fly PCR and Test to Release, please turn LEFT at the main roundabout at the airport and follow the signs for Premium Meet and Greet.

For Antigen testing, please head to the main Airport terminal building, where the facility will be located near the large luggage drop off.

After you enter the barrier for the Premium Meet and Greet building, you will be instructed on what do to next by our friendly airport staff who are there to help you.

If you haven’t received your Fit To Fly or Test to Release Certificate within 48 hrs of your test, please check your spam folder. A Fit to Fly Certificate will also be used for General PCR Testing results.

We cannot refund appointments within 48hrs of your booked appointment. You must make sure you are satisfied with the date and time of your booking.  We will only refund your appointment (less a £4 booking fee) if your flight has been cancelled and you can provide evidence of this by email to testing@nph-group.co.uk.
